2016 HOTBC Solo/Duo Results

The Solo/Duo portion of the Heart of Texas Blues Challenge was held Thursday, July 7th at the Brass House. This year's slate of competitors was comprised of:

• Mike and Amber

• Jacques Bergeon

• Blues Train(er)

Each of the artists gave crowd-pleasing and memorable performances, spanning a wide range of blues influences.

After tallying the points awarded by our panel of five judges, the winner of this year's solo/duo competition is Jacques Bergeon, who will be representing Austin in the solo/duo category at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis!!

The Austin Blues Society would like to thank all three acts who competed this year – they displayed great talent and presence, and we look forward to seeing much more from them all!

Thanks also go out to our panel of judges:

• Nancy Brinson

• Jim Caligiuri

• Andrew Cohen

• Skye Downing

• Ben Stevens

A special thanks to our 2015 HOTBC solo/duo winner Trimmed & Burning, for their wonderful closing evening performance!

Many thanks to these folks for their invaluable support:

• Jason White and the staff of the Brass House

• Our terrific volunteers (Mike & Michele Eneboe, Wil Oxford, Ed Howse)

• The Austin Blues Society board (Catfish Daniel, Fawn Storm, Lisa Woodcock, Bill Bushey, and Bill Lockett)

Lastly, thanks to everyone who came out to support the artists and the event – you're helping keep the blues alive in Austin!
