Matthew Robinson

Born in Austin in 1948, Matthew Robinson has been an authentic blues original since he first began singing and player guitar. His raw and original style has become a trademark sound in Austin's Eastside blues scene. During the late 60's, Matthew frequently toured the United States as a singer for The Mustangs, opening for legends such as Jimmy Reed, James Brown, Big Mamma Thornton, and Johnny Winter.

Over his more than forty years of professional experience, Matthew has played virtually every venue in Austin, Texas. He has recorded six albums and headlined in the UK, Holland, Brazil, and Japan. In 2012, Matthew received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Austin Blues Society. In July of 2015, Matthew and his band, Matthew Robinson and the Jelly Kings, won the Heart of Texas Blues Challenge, earning them the opportunity to compete in the 2016 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee in January of 2016.
