After the first year of successful events and activities, the Austin Blues Society will hold its second fundraising and membership drive concert at Antone’s nightclub, on Sunday, May 18, 2008. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m., and the show will begin at 7:00. This is an all ages concert and, as was true for last year’s event, will boast a stellar lineup of some of the area’s best Blues musicians.

The May 18th fundraiser promises to be another exciting night of Blues music and will feature the following star performers:

Marcia Ball,  W.C. Clark,  Angela Strehli, Carolyn Wonderland,
Alan Haynes,  Mark Hayes,  Derek O'Brien, Omar Kent Dykes,  Sarah Brown,  Nick Connolly,  Riley Osborne,  George Rains,  Erin Jaimes,
Hosea Hargrove and very special guests.

The Austin Blues Society invites Blues fans one and all, old and young to join us at this annual event. If you are not yet an ABS member, you will have the opportunity to sign up at the show. If you are a member and your membership is expiring, you will be able to renew at the event. Austin Blues Society tee shirts will also be available for purchase. Please come on out, have fun, and support live Blues in Austin!

ABS Monthly Showcase Series

The Austin Blues Society Showcase Series will introduce new or under-exposed blues performers in an accessible, early evening format. By presenting youthful bands, artists new to Austin, crusty veterans, and acts that usually keep to one area of town, we hope to bring new fans to blues musicians and vice versa. Each of these shows, scheduled the third Tuesday of each month, allows two area blues acts the opportunity to strut their stuff at Antone’s, Austin’s world famous blues venue.

This monthly event hosted by ABS Events Chair Spencer Thomas will raise funds for ABS participation in the International Blues Challenge and cover travel costs of the winning artist's trip to Memphis to represent the Austin Blues Society in the IBC. Our goal is to sponsor a blues band, a solo/duo act, and possibly a third division for young blues artists.

The ABS monthly jam is open to all Blues Musicians! All ages welcome. The Jam is hosted by Kim Session & Leland Parks.

This popular blues event just keeps getting better and better. Great blues musicianship is the rule of thumb at this gig. Come on out and play the blues on stage at Antone's.

There is a special camaraderie enjoyed by all types and ages of blues lovers in this very special venue!
