Austin Blues Society

 The Mission of the Austin Blues Society

The general purpose of the Austin Blues Society, hereinafter also referred to as the society, and incorporated as a non-profit corporation organized exclusively for charitable, educational, religious, or scientific purposes within a meaning of Section 501(c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code, shall be:

• To preserve, cultivate, and support blues in Central Texas, and to promote the growth and appreciation of blues music and musicians, on all possible levels and in multiple venues.
• To provide a newsletter of current blues news and events for members.
• To increase awareness of and appreciation for the blues through society sanctioned educational efforts.
• To provide a network of association for area blues lovers and blues musicians.

The ABS strives to be an important part of the music scene in Austin. We've initiated the following programs:

• "Heart O' Texas Blues Challenge" - The Austin Blues Society's participation in the International Blues Challenge
• Monday Night Blues Jams at Austin's home of the Blues ~ Antone's
• Support of local charities at ABS events. Central Texas Food Bank, HAAM and Music For Literacy are some of our recent local charity beneficiaries.
• Blues In The Schools Program

These are just a few of the things we as a Society would like to achieve.  However, we need the help and support of an energetic committed membership to make projects like these become reality.  Join us and help the Blues continue to be at the forefront of the Austin music scene. Become a member of the Austin Blues Society today!
