The Austin Blues Society joins with Austin Music People and the greater music community in our grief over the deaths and injuries suffered at the 2014 SXSW events. The following services have been set up and we encourage you to do what you can to help the victims and yourselves.
SXSW Cares (#SXSWCares): The SXSW Cares Fund will help people affected by the tragic events of March 13, 2014 and future possible events. The funds will be disbursed to those most affected through a community-based process to be created by representatives of SXSW, the Austin Convention Center and the City of Austin. The Red Cross is also offering free counseling for anyone impacted by the incident. Local mental health counselors are available by phone at 512-928-4271, and they are meeting with individuals who want face-to-face. Counselors can work with individuals as well as with groups that have had a shared traumatic experience.
